The refrain is just beautiful and sounds exactly as Leon Bridges looks like in the video. It might not be in my Top 5 if I heard it nowadays though. I‘m making a list of my favorite songs per year and it also won 2014. It was his biggest song and I heard it a lot and had it as my favorite song for ages. but this is a very deserved place in my Top 5. I really struggled with this one, because almost every song of The Heist is close to Ten Thousand Hours and the most of This Unruly Mess I‘ve Made also. Honorable mentions: Excavate, White privilege II, Neon chatedral The best song there is on this topic and honestly it's more than just the song. It's his rawest song and it hits hard because it is his most personal song. Otherside remix - The impact this song had to so many people is unreal. I think it's the most beautiful thing and it builds to Macks legacy to be able to create something that contains that power It's the first time I experienced that the music could change my set of views on things and that's what it is all about. But over time it started to hit some points and open a different perspective to me. I was raised in a very homophobic environment and i used to ignore it like it didn't exist. Very hard song and very important to opening conversations about pharmacy mafiaĢ) Same love - Not the most complex song, but it carries such a heavy message in those light instrumentals and flow. Just like the addiction releted songs he is making mistakes but is trying to teach others to learn from his so they don't make them themselves and that's what makes his music so specialģ) Kevin - great lyrics, great instrmentals, great hook, it hits home and Mack is always at his peak performance when covering drug issues. He is very self-awere cause he is himself a part of sneaker culture but is trying to look at it in a different way. It always take guts to stand up against i certain issue, in this case materialsim and consumerism. Honorable mentions: St Ides, Soldiers, Make the moneyĥ) Vipassana remix - i think this is a lyrical highpoint, Mack painted a vivid picture of himself and the world that surround himĤ) Wings - i kinda got bored of the song tbh🤐😅, but still very original and very self-aware. I had to make two lists, one of my favorites and one of what i think is the best.
